Description
“Bloodgood” Red Japanese Maple Tree Seeds
Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’
The Bloodgood Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’) is one of the most iconic and dependable red-leaf Japanese maples ever introduced. Brought to the United States before World War II, this cultivar has remained a favorite for generations due to its exceptional color stability, compact form, and low-maintenance nature.
Bloodgood maples display deep purplish-red foliage in spring, transition to rich burgundy tones in summer, and finish the season with brilliant crimson red fall color. Even in winter, the tree provides visual interest with its graceful branching structure and silvery bark. Naturally short in stature with delicate branching, it is perfectly suited for gardens, landscapes, containers, and bonsai cultivation.

Bloodgood Japanese Maple trees thrive in partial shade to full sun, with shadier locations producing the most vivid foliage color. They adapt well to a wide range of soil types including clay, loam, and sand, provided drainage is good. Moist, slightly acidic soil is ideal, and applying a light layer of organic mulch during summer helps retain moisture and protect roots. Once established, this cultivar is resilient, dependable, and long-lived.
Whether grown as a statement landscape tree, a peaceful garden accent, or a hardy bonsai, the Bloodgood Japanese Maple remains one of the finest red maples ever cultivated.
Bloodgood Germination:
1) Soak seeds for 24 hours in warm water.
2) Place seeds inside of a bag of moist vermiculite or peat moss and place inside the fridge for 120 days to cold stratify. Cut a few small holes in the bag for air circulation, and periodically check to ensure they stay moist and don't dry out, but never wet.
3) Plant seeds no more than 1/4" deep in well mixed and draining seed starting mix.
4) Use a heated propagator to keep the soil at 75 degrees F at all times
5) Keep slightly moist, and expect germination within 2 weeks.

Corte algunos agujeros pequeños en la bolsa para que circule el aire y verifique periódicamente para asegurarse de que permanezcan húmedas y no se sequen, pero nunca mojadas.
